Aliens in the Attic – Parents Review

I took my kids and their friend to see Aliens in the Attic today and we all liked it. All of us gave it a thumbs up (they are between ages 10 and 13-years-old). It was very funny and kept us entertained. alienThe movie was rated PG and I’m still not sure why. I didn’t see anything in it that would be bad for little kids (unless they would find the tiny aliens scary). There was no obvious blood or swearing (there was a funny fight between the jerky boyfriend and the grandma where the boyfriend’s face got a little beat up and showed a tiny bit of blood on his lip). Check out Movie Mom’s review (link below), she always has a much move in depth & detailed review. co-scripted by one of the writers of “Madagascar” and the Academy Award®-winning “Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit.

In other reviews: Yahoo gave the movie a B and you can always count on Movie Mom’s reviews (she gave it a B-) view it here.

Kids Love Beethoven’s Big Break

beethovenWe just watched the movie ‘Beethoven’s Big Break’. The kids loved it and I enjoyed it, too. It was fun to watch a movie about how Beethoven got into the movies. The story begins just before the filming of the first Beethoven movie, which they say was actually written for a Bichon Frisé. It shows the funny way a St Bernard ended up with the part, and the background story of some of the funniest scenes in that first movie (with Charles Grodin). This movie stars Moises Arias of Hannah Montana, Dadnapped & Nacho Libre. Animal lovers will really enjoy this, and so will the Dog Whisperer fans. Cesar Millan does a special appearance in the movie. We have also enjoyed all of the earlier Beethoven movies. This movie is also known as Beethoven’s 6th & Beethoven: The Reel Story. Watch the trailer below:

Eddie, a struggling animal trainer and single dad suddenly finds himself the personal wrangler for a large and lovable St. Bernard whose fabulous movie “audition” catapults the dog to stardom. However, a trio of unscrupulous ne’er-do-wells have plans to kidnap the famous dog and hold him for ransom.

Tide Talking Stain Free Ringtone

From your cell phone, send a text message simply stating ’stain’ to number 67000. They will reply by sending you a free ringtone which is very funny. You can then save it as a ringtone (depending on what phone you have). Now, when I say FREE, that is only if text messages are included in your plan (standard messaging rates may apply. Not available on all carriers. Check with your carrier for details on your plan). This ringtone is from Tide’s website. It worked for me and I have Verizon. . .

Dog Lovers Will Enjoy Disney’s UP

upMy husband and son went to see Disney Pixar’s Up and really enjoyed it. Hubby said that the dog “made the movie”. The movie features the voices of Edward Asner, Christopher Plummer, Director Bob Peterson as DUG the dog, and John Ratzenberger (of course…isn’t John Ratzenberger in Every Disney Movie?). The dog looks like a golden retriever and he is so funny! You can check out the clips below.

In the movie, Dug must wear the “Cone of Shame” which is really an e-collar. It is especially funny to me because we have a beautiful golden named, Tackle. Unfortunately he, too, must wear the “Cone of Shame” quite often. He has been plagued with “hotspots” since he was a pup (he is now seven). I have posted a picture of Tackle below, wearing his e-collar or aka lampshade.

updougBy tying thousands of balloon to his home, 78-year-old Carl Fredricksen sets out to fulfill his lifelong dream to see the wilds of South America. Right after lifting off, however, he learns he isn’t alone on his journey, since Russell, a wilderness explorer 70 years his junior, has inadvertently become a stowaway on the trip. Rated PG, 96 minutes. Click here to watch Dug the Talking Dog. Official movie site: Up (Movie)

G-Force Review from Movie Mom

I didn’t get out to see G-Force (rated pg), but here is a link to Movie Mom’s review: G-Force She gave it a C. The movie features the voices of Will Arnett, Bill Nighy, and Zach Galifianakis. I’m not sure who they are, though (sorry). The story is about a team of trained secret agent guinea pigs that takes on a mission for the US government. A specially trained squad of guinea pigs is dispatched to stop a diabolical billionaire, who plans to taking over the world with household appliances.

“The script is predictable and derivative. References to other movies like “Die Hard” and “Scarface” may amuse parents and potty jokes may amuse children but they contribute to a crass and lazy feel to the film.” -movie mom  [read more...]

A Mom’s Review of Transformers 2 Revenge of the Fallen

I took my boys to see this movie (including my husband). The kids and I enjoyed it but my hubby gave it a thumbs down. There were a few parts that I want to warn about if you are not sure about taking the kids to see it, though. Spoiler alert: I will be telling a couple parts of the movie here. In one part early in the movie, Shia LaBeouf is held down and a small slimy robot is forced down his throat. This scene bothered my younger son a little. Also, there is a lot of kissing and one part where a girl gets forward with Shia in the bedroom (no nudity). The little robot in the movie humps Megan Fox’s leg and says sh*t a lot. The movie has some swearing and some blood. I thought it was a little transformers2hard to follow, but the kids didn’t care about that. They were too busy laughing at the swearing robots. I can see why it was rated PG-13. It was a little rougher than the first movie, but still full of action.

Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi action violence, language, some crude and sexual material, and brief drug material. Released on on June 24th,2009. Decepticon forces return to Earth on a mission to take Sam Witwicky prisoner, after the young hero learns the truth about the ancient origins of the Transformers. Joining the mission to protect humankind is Optimus Prime, who forms an alliance with international armies for a second epic battle.
