We Got Free Repair on XBOX 360 Three Red Lights
When three red lights began flashing on our Xbox 360 I was sure we’d have to pay for repairs. I was wrong. I had never registered my Xbox, didn’t have the original receipt and had no idea when I got it. Yet, when I logged on to Xbox (Sign in here) I found an option to register my Xbox 360. I entered the information and the serial number (on the back of the console) and it said that my warranty had expired on July 13, 2007. But here’s the good (super excellent) part – there’s a 3 year extended warranty if you have the three red lights (aka ”Red Ring of Death”).
So, after registering your 360, click ‘Repair Your Console’ and answer a few questions. It might give you some things to double check on the system. If it still is not working and you fall under that extended warranty you will be able to print out a UPS label, send your Xbox 360 in and (hopefully) get it back with in three weeks. If you have any problems with this process call (425) 635-7180 and they will help you. For example, I had trouble printing the shipping label (I know, I’m a dork) and they helped me.
Now, I’ll be writing an update to this post when I do get my Xbox back. I am shipping it out today (Aug. 26, 2009), when I get it back I’ll write about how it is running and how long the repair took. I’m not sure how we will get along without the Xbox 360 for three weeks. It will be very painful, I’m sure.
